Natural Glow - Demi Lovato

I am consistently listening Demi's new song 'skyscraper' and really wanted to do a make up look inspired by her. I was originally going to create a look from her 'skyscraper' video but i have seen too many, so, i looked up some previous photos and fell in love with this one. Doesn't Demi look so radiant? If you want to get this look then keep reading!

Flawless Skin

  • I recommend that you prime your face with your favourite Foundation primer to begin with. If you are like me and have Super Oily skin then look for Primers that are oil free and are specific for Oily skin, same goes for dry and combination skin. These are some good Primers for Oily skin; Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfecter, Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel, Lancome Perfecting Make up Primer Smoothing Effects Oil Free, L'Oreal Studio Secret Primer and Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer.
  • This is optional but conceal any dark circles, blemishes or redness. Also conceal the inner corners of your nose; this will brighten your face.
  • Now take your favourite Foundation, and once again i would opt for one that is suitable for your skin type, so if you have oily skin don't go and buy yourself a foundation packed with oils. In my previous Post i was talking about the differences with mineral and liquid foundation, but I do recommend using a liquid Foundation for this look just because it gives you a better coverage and will achieve the 'Flawless' look more than the mineral. Although it is up to you guys. Apply your foundation all over you face blending it into the start of your hair line and your neck. Using a Buffer/Kabuki brush in circular motions will soften the make up and removing any streaks left behind.
  • This part is also optional, but for you girls out there that have oily skin, i suggest that you use some mineral foundation and lightly blot it onto the areas where there is excessive oil and then blend a small amount over your whole face, making sure there is no splodges.
  • Demi's cheeks have an inner glow, so to achieve this we want to pick out some pretty, girly light pink blush tones and apply this to the apples of our cheeks.
  • Now choose a bronzer that suits your skin tone, you don't want to be to pale or to orange. We are now going to contour our cheeks and if you don't know where to contour then make a fish face  (Don't be embarrassed, we all have to do this at some stage) and where you see the hollows in your cheeks, we are going to lightly dust some bronzer into that area. Make sure you blend it out so it's not streaky. You can also add some to your temples.
  • This is the last stage and we just want to highlight out cheek bone to add more structure to our look. So, using a check bone enhancing cream or a champagne eyeshadow lightly sweep the enhancer on top of your cheekbones and then lightly blend.
Glowing eyes
  • Prime your eyes (lid and lash line) using your favourite eye primer. This will enhance the colour and keep it on all day.
  • Using a flat shader brush apply a champagne colour to your lid, inner corner and brow.
  • Using the same brush add a light bronze to the outer half of your lid
  • Now take a dome shaped blending brush and sweep a dark bronze into the crease, then using the same brush blend a charcoal colour from the outer corner into the light bronze so there is a light gradation
  • Line your upper lash line with a black Liner, starting with a thin line from your inner corner and gradually thickening to your outer corner. Smudge this lightly with a cotton tip or smudging brush. Line your bottom lash line taking it only half way and smudge.
  • Now apply a golden/ orange bronze eyeshadow from the half way in your bottom lash line to your inner corner. lightly blend the eyeshadow with the liner.
  • Finish off your eyes with a coat of mascara (top and bottom)
  • For the lips, choose a pink nude lipstick and applying a light pink lip gloss on top to coat.
Demi is wearing statement earrings but you can choose between a statement necklace or earrings. So that is the final stage for the 'Natural Glow', its very neutral while still giving a bold effect.

Hope you like it! xx

Liquid Foundation Vs Mineral Foundation

Have you Struggled with choosing the best type of make up for your skin? Well here are some facts to help you along the way. I have acne prone skin so it's very important for me to not only find a good foundation that wont break me out but also has a good coverage. I found that liquid foundation suits me best, so lets see what one suits you best.

Liquid Foundation:
  • good coverage
  • variety of colours
  • wide range of types (for oily, dry, combination skin)
  • can be cheaper than mineral
Mineral foundation:

  • Light coverage
  • Easy to apply
  • lightweight, easy to blend and layer to suit skin tone
  • covers redness well
  • better for your skin because of the absence of chemicals found in liquid foundation
So has that helped with your decision? Hope it has.

Enjoy! xx

Enriching Facial Mask

Hey Girls! Have you got dry, dehydrated and dull looking skin? I know i do. This enriching mask works to rejuvenate your skin while stimulating cell renewal and toning your skin. Facial masks also work to exfoliate the skin by removing dead skin cells.  A natural skin care recipe for a rejuvenating mask will also deeply hydrate the skin; replacing essential moisture as well as to unclog pores, and remove any impurities remaining after cleansing.

The recipe:
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
Combine these ingredients to form a smooth paste, then apply a thin layer over your face avoiding the eyes.
Leave the mask on for 5 - 8 minuets then remove by using a face washer and warm water.
The honey heals, stimulates and smooths the skin, while the egg yolk and olive oil penetrate and moisturize. The yogurt gently exfoliates and cleanses while refining and tightening pores.

Enjoy! xx

Clinique Chubby Stick

So i recently went shopping and purchased the Clinique Chubby stick which is a moisturizing lip balm in the shape of a crayon. The packaging is so adorable and i love how they have made this lip balm stand out from the thousands of other everyday lip balms. But it's not the visual appearance of this new lip balm that i have fallen in love with, it's actually the product itself! What you will find is that the Chubby stick is seriously nourishing and also works like a lipstick because its so pigmented. I have found that it stays on my lips for a long period of time  while giving them a therapy session. It has a satin finish, dewy, but not shiny like a lip gloss. The Chubby stick contains ingredients such as Vegetable oil, beeswax, Shea butter and olive oil which are all very moisturizing products (great for repairing cracked lips).
I have the colour 'Chunky Cherry' which is a very vibrant pink red and it looks great on my fair skin. Although the colour choices are limited, i found that they had the basic colours to suit every skin tone.
The Clinique Chubby Stick is more expensive than available drug store lip balms but this product can be used for multiple reasons, making it the perfect buy for me.
Beware though that the stick will eventually flatten making the application less precise.

What are your favorite Lip balms?

Welcome!
